Sports has always been filled with legendary streaks, like Julio Cesar Chavez’ 87-fight unbeaten streak, The Undertaker’s 21 straight Wrestlemania victories, the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers’ 33-game win streak.
There were also the championship streaks like the Chicago Bulls’ two separate three-peats in the NBA, the Montreal Canadiens’ five straight Stanley Cups, and most impressive is the Boston Celtics’ eight straight NBA titles from 1959 to 1966.
Then there is Robin Deakins who owns a nine-year losing streak.
Deakins’ record is so bad that he has been dubbed the nickname of “Britain’s Worst Boxer” and has had his licensed revoked because, as per Bleacher Report, authorities feared for his safety.
Fortunately for Deakins, he snapped his horrendous 51-fight losing streak with a win over Dennis Kornilovs in London to improve his record to 2-51.
Natural of a winner, Deakins was overjoyed with the victory and said he’s not done yet.
“I’m a fighter. I’m going to fight my way back to the top, you’ll see,” he told the Daily Mirror.
“All those people that called me Britain’s worst boxer can eat their words, they just made me punch harder,” Deakin said. “People saying I’m the worst made me stronger. I did everything different this time and worked my hardest, and it showed. … I’m over the moon.”
Deakins was so “over the moon” he took to Twitter to announce his new nickname, “Real Life Rocky.”
