#UPFight! Maroons 2nd win in UAAP Season 78 sends internet abuzz

Social media went abuzz on Wednesday afternoon after the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons won over the De La Salle University Green Archers for the first time since 2009 in the UAAP season basketball tournament.

The hashtag #UPFight trended second worldwide and in the Philippines, beating the #ALDUBKapitLang hashtag of Eat Bulaga’s hit “Kalyeserye” segment.

Even Vice President Jejomar Binay posted a celebratory tweet follow UP’s 71-66.

“Sa ilalim ng maitim na balat na ito ay nananalaytay ang #dugongMaroon. Congratulations, @UPMaroons!!! Mabuhay kayo!” Binay said.

“Kung ang boss ay Maroon, ngayon #tamangpanahon para magpapirma, magpaapprove, humingi ng increase at magpalibre,” blogger @tonyocruz tweeted.

“Guys, ipa-billboard na ‘to sa Edsa!” said film director Tonet Jadaone, who posted a screenshot of the match’s scoreboard.
