St. Clare sets up NAASCU finals date with CEU

St. Clare College of Caloocan set a Finals rematch with Centro Escolar University after blasting Rizal Technological University, 80-54, on Tuesday in Game 3 of their semifinals series in the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (NAASCU) at Makati Coliseum.

Bong Managuelod ignited the Saints’ breakaway in the third quarter to wind up with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Jonathan Ibarra led St. Clare with 18 markers while Jordan Rios got 15 points and seven boards.

Aristotle Dionisio just missed out on a double-double with 15 markers and nine rebounds for the Saints.

RTU once again relied on Sandy Cenal, but the big man was unable to replicate the his Game 2 performance with his 12 points and eight rebounds not enough.

The championship starts on Thursday with CEU expected to field in a shorthanded squad after engaging in a bench-clearing brawl in its game against Philippine Christian University on Monday.

The league is yet to hand out the necessary penalties to those involved in the melee.
