It may be safe to say that dark days of UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe are over.
Entering the podium for the second straight year, the Thomasians finally put an end to their inconsistent showing as they finished the second-runner up in the 2015 UAAP Cheerdance Competition.
It was a notch better from Salinggawi’s third place finish last year.
“We are very blessed and thankful that we pulled it off after all our sacrifices,” said UST coach Ramon Pagaduan IV after Salinggawi received the award.
Salinggawi, which had 651.5 points, wound up bridesmaid to three-peat champion NU Pep Squad at Mall of Asia Arena in Saturday.
It was an inspiring run for the eight-time champs, which last won the cheerdance championship back in 2006.
After missing out on the top three from 2011 to 2013 where it even sunk to as low as seventh place, UST started its rebound last year.
Pagaduan said that the team is dead-set to relive the team’s glory days, but for now, they’ll settle with what has been given to them.
“Every year is a struggle. Every competition, we don’t know how we’ll fare. For us, we just try to give our best for UST,” he said.
UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe took home the P200,000 cash prize as the first runner-up.
