Safe to say, Kiefer Ravena has really put his shooting woes behind him.
Ravena on Sunday put up one of the best shooting displays in recent memory when he scored Ateneo’s first 21 points against defending champion National University.
The graduating guard made his first six 3-pointers and at one point, outpointed the Bulldogs, 21-6, after he scored on a tip in with 2:57 left in the opening period. Ravena finished with 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field in 17 minutes of action in the first half, scoring most points in the first two quarters since the UAAP’s official statistics provider Imperium started keeping track of the numbers in 2003.
The previous record was 22 points by former Far Eastern University guard Terrence Romeo back in Season 75, as per the league’s head stats man Pong Ducanes. Ravena also tallied 22 first-half points during the 74th Season of UAAP.
Ravena’s career-high is 38 points set against University of the East in a come-from-behind win in overtime by Ateneo last year.
As of posting, Ravena, the reigning MVP, has 30 points with the Blue Eagles clinging to a 52-47 edge after three quarters.
