TOP Filipino hope Dennis Orcollo flashed sharp form while Carlo Biado and Warren Kiamco also advanced in the 40th US Open 9-ball Championship Monday at Sheraton Waterside in Norfolk, Virginia.
Orcollo, the reigning US Open 8-Ball champion, dumped Vietnamese Phan Phuong Nam, 11-1, for his second straight win in the top-tier tournament that lured 128 cue masters, including eight Filipinos.
Biado and Kiamco matched Orcollo’s 2-0 card following victories over American Brandon Shuff, 11-5, and countryman Francisco Felicilda, 11-9, respectively.
The easy win put Orcollo, stalwart of Bugsy Promotions, on a collision course with Chinese Dang Jinhu, who shut out American Scoot Brazier in the third round. Roy Luarca
