Chan, Corpus pace Tarlac field
TARLAC—Junior golfers Aidric Chan and Carl Corpus each shot two-over-par 74 for a share of the lead in the first round of the Northern Luzon Regional Golf Championship at Luisita Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.
Nico Evangelista and Ira Alido shared third with 76s while Carlo Gatmaitan was a stroke back at 77 in the National Golf Association of the Philippines-organized tournament sponsored by the MVP Sports Foundation.
Title-favorite Harmie Constantino bogeyed the last two holes to finish with a one-over 73 in the women’s Elite Open while fellow national team pool member Ashia Nocum struggled with an 86.
Fernando delos Reyes and Peregrin de Guzman tied for 80 to pace the Seniors Open division of the event that is part of the PLDT National Amateur Tour and Valentin Lopez submitted 82 to take the Mid-Am Open lead.
