TARLAC—Steady with his irons all day, Ira Alido fired a one-over-par 73 to catch a fading Carl Corpus in the lead with a 36-hole total of 149 in the men’s Elite division going into the final round of the Northern Luzon Regional Golf Championships at Luisita.
National pool member Wei Wei Gao matched par and lay one stroke off the pace at 150 while Luis Castro carded a 73 to be one shot further adrift at 151.
Aidric Chan, the overnight co-leader with Corpus, struggled to a 12-over 84 and fell to joint fifth with Nico Evangelista (82), Carlo Gatmaitan (81) and Paolo Uy (76).
Harmie Constantino all but clinched the women’s Elite title with a 75 for 148—a huge 17 strokes clear of Ashia Nocum (79-165) in this event staged by the National Golf Association of the Philippines.
Samantha Dizon carded an 86 and virtually wrapped up the Novice division crown with 169 over Wei Fang Gao (86-190) in this PLDT National Amateur Golf Tour event sponsored by the MVP Sports Foundation.
Valentin Lopez continued to dominate the Mid-Am Open with a 78 for 160. Noli Singca (87) and Kennedy Feliciano (83) paced the Seniors I and Mid-Am divisions.
