Alcala crushes Cudiamat

Mark Shelley Alcala continued his domination of  Michael Cudiamat, 21-8, 21-19, to keep his men’s singles title in the Smart National Open Badminton tournament 2015 at Powersmash Badminton Center in Makati City over the weekend.

The second-seeded Alcala, who also beat Cudiamat in last year’s finals, trounced Ateneo’s Sulton Al Hakim, 21-11, 21-15, in the semifinals while Cudiamat turned back Smash Pilipinas teammate Frell Keeyan Gabuelo, 21-12, 21-19.

Indonesian Jessica Muljati of Bingo Bonzanza dethroned last year’s champion Lili Wang of China, 21-19, 21-10, to snare the women’s singles title.

Wang later teamed up with Aires Amor Montilla in defeating top seeds Jessie Francisco and Eleanor Christine Inlayo, 21-8, 21-13, in the women’s doubles final.
