With a four-game win streak going into Thursday, Philips Gold needed one more win to secure a Final 4 slot in the Philippine SuperLiga Grand Prix.

Foton, however, had other plans and sent the Slammers reeling with a four set beating.

Philips Gold team captain Michelle Gumabao said the end of their four-game win streak was a wake-up call and a loss, no matter how bad, they would welcome.

“We needed to wake-up again,” Gumabao said Thursday. “That’s what’s difficult when you’re on top, you will go down.”

The Slammers have never tasted defeat since their opening game loss to Cignal.

“I think it’s fine we lost, you can’t win all the time, Gumabao said.
