PLDT Home Ultera seeks to close in on a semifinal berth when it collides with Philippine Navy Saturday in a Shakey’s V-League Season 12-Reinforced Conference duel that highlights a heavy day of volleyball action at Filoil Flying V Arena.

Boasting of talented players like Gretchel Soltones and Janine Marciano, the Ultra Fast Lady Hitters can assure themselves of at least a playoff for a Final Four berth with a win over the Lady Sailors at 12:45 p.m.

With Soltones and Marciano on the firing end, PLDT walloped University of the Philippines, 25-12, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17, last week for its second win in three outings.

The Ultra Fast Hitters fashioned out the victory even without Ateneo ace Alyssa Valdez, who remains doubtful due to a back injury she sustained while playing for the Lady Eagles in the UAAP beach volleyball tournament recently.

But with a deep and talented squad that also includes the experienced Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Rubie De Leon, PLDT remains the heavy pick against a Navy team that blasted Kia Forte, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21, last Oct. 25.

Army dealt Navy a 14-25, 17-25, 14-25 beating last week.

Meanwhile, Cignal TV guns for a place in the Last Four of the Spikers’ Turf Season 1 Reinforced Conference against Philippine Navy.

A win by the HD Spikers in their 5 p.m. tiff will give them a seat in the semifinals where Air Force has already clinched a spot after picking up four straight victories.
