V-League: PLDT winning, making do without Valdez

With a 3-1 record, PLDT Home Ultera is primed for another title run in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference.

And the Ultra Fast Hitters are doing it without superstar Alyssa Valdez.

Head coach Roger Gorayeb has been mixing and matching his 11 players to fill the holes left with the absence of Valdez and so far the team is making do without the Lady Eagle.

“I still don’t know when Alyssa will be available. I’m not looking for her,” Gorayeb said after the Ultra Fast Hitters’ 25-20, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13 win over Philippine Navy Saturday at San Juan Arena. “Whoever is in my team, I will focus on them.”

Valdez was advised to take a breather after playing for Ateneo in the UAAP beach volleyball tournament and PLDT has been without Valdez since the start of the Reinforced Conference.

Still, Gorayeb said Valdez’s arrival will be a big boost to the team as it prepares to grind it out in the Final Four.

“Of course, Alyssa would be of great help for us,” Gorayeb said.
