Over a hundred national athletes participated in the Financial Literacy module for the Philippine Sports Commission’s Personality Enhancement Program (PEP) for Sports last Nov. 3 and 6, 2015.

Players from athletics, cycling, diving, fencing, judo, karatedo, muay, pencak silat, petanque, rowing, sailing, sepak takraw, synchronized swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling joined the two-day module conducted by Pesos And Sense’s Aya Laraya.

PSC chair Ricardo “Richie” Garcia thanked the participants for attending their first of three PEP modules.

“Their attendance signifies their awareness on the importance of saving and using their hard-earned allowances and incentives wisely,” said Garcia.

PSC commissioner and PEP project director Wigberto “Iggy” Clavecilla also appreciated the various national sports associations’ support for their athletes to grasp the basics of personal finance.

Clavecilla said the PSC hopes “that when the time comes for them to retire from sports, they would remember what they’ve learned from this first PEP module and apply these before it’s too late to do so.”
