Ateneo avenged its first round loss to De La Salle University with a 73-62 win on Sunday to stay in contention for a twice-to-beat edge in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball tournament at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Von Pessumal scored 17 points for the Blue Eagles, who hiked their record to 9-4 while also sending the Green Archers into fifth place with a 5-7 mark.

National University, which won over University of the Philippines earlier, moved into fourth place with a 6-7 slate.
