As if any fight that involves Ronda Rousey still needs added drama to sell, a heated commotion between the undefeated champion and challenger Holly Holm broke out during their weigh-in on the eve of their Sunday’s fight headlining UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia.
After the two hit the scales for their bantamweight title fight, Ronda walked over to Holm for a traditional faceoff and the excitement picked up from there.
As per Bleacher Report, Holm put her fist in Rousey’s face, a move that got everyone revved up and, as it turned out, a very effective way to irk the champion.
Rousey swiped Holm’s hand away her face before a staredown ensued and UFC president Dana White stepped in to break it up.
“I just wanted to get in her face and show her that I was there for a reason. She’s the one that put the fist on my face. I didn’t touch her,” Rousey told UFC color commentator Joe Rogan.
Holm is not known for her pre-fight antics but after what had just transpired, Rousey feels that her opponent is just show “fake” respect.
“She’s the one that touched me and I told her that fake, sweet act, I can see right through it. I really do. It was all fake. All until now. All that respect, all that everything, all being sweet. I see right now that it’s fake and you’re gonna get it on Sunday,” Rousey said.
“You’re not the first person that thought that you had the perfect plan to beat me. It’s not the first time that your camp thought they had the perfect plan to beat me. I’m gonna show you on Sunday why I’m the champ.”
