Caida Tiles five thwarts Euro-Med, regains lead

CAIDA Tiles slipped past Euro-Med, 69-67, Saturday night to snap a two-game slide and regain the solo lead in the PCBL Founders’ Cup at JCSGO Gym in Quezon City.

Billy Robles and Alex Almario pumped in 12 points each as the Tile Masters improved to 6-2, while halting their victims’ two-game winning run.

The Tile Masters also got solid games from former Letran standout Jamil Gabawan who finished with 10 points and Arellano U star Jiovani Jalalon who contributed nine points.

Earlier, Sta. Lucia Realty leaned on the solid form of Kent Salado to roll past Cagayan Valley, 86-66, to gain solo third with a 5-3 record.

Salado who impressed in his rookie season for the Arellano Chiefs in NCAA Season 91 fired a game-high 23 points, joining forces with mainstays Mac Montilla and Wowie Escosio to lead the Realtors to their fifth win in eight games for solo third.

With Salado on the firing end, the Realtors pulled away with a telling 16-0 burst in the second period.

The loss relegated Cagayan to fourth place with a 4-4 card in this tournament supported by Accel, Spalding, Aquabest and Ambucore.
