APEC traffic unleashes Aby Maraño’s beast mode

Even your volleyball stars are affected by the frenzy caused by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation that has gripped the metropolis starting Monday.

Philippine Superliga’s Aby Marano of Petron said the gridlock around the Mall of Asia premises — where she’s living — has gotten her into “Beast Mode.”

She left home at 11 a.m. but at around 1 p.m. the former La Salle standout was still stuck along Macapagal Ave. near Heritage Hotel which is only about a kilometer away from where she stays.

Maraño has a game to catch with her Blaze Spikers scheduled to play Philips Gold at 4 p.m. at the Arena in San Juan.

“I have no choice but to plunge into traffic because the only lane open is the one leading to Edsa,” Marano told the INQUIRER through direct message on Twitter while stuck in her car.

Known for her ferocity inside the court, the former La Salle stalwart popularise the hashtag #BMDC or “beast mode, don’t care.”

“APECtado talaga kami dito na nakatira along MOA. Close roads and traffic everywhere nakaka beast mode,” Maraño, who has 132,000 followers, posted on her Twitter account.

“APECtado tayo sa matinding trAPEC,” Maraño tweeted to fellow volleybelle Maika Ortiz.
