Ironman World Champ arrives in PH for Bataan Int’l Triathlon
MAKATI, PHILIPPINES — For over a year, the Bataan International Triathlon (BI3) has established itself as the ultimate Eco-Heritage Triathlon Festival in the Philippines. After winning the 2014 SBR.ph Awards Race of the Year (below 600), BI3 is set to unite the strongest and most determined triathletes in a monumental competition where they will once again race past Filipino heritage homes and buildings.
Before the actual Triathlon main event, a press conference was held last November 24, 2015 at 12 Monkeys Music Hall in Century City Mall for a sneak peak of this year’s even bigger and better triathlon festival. The conference started with a blast of music as the band Skylight prepared to welcome one of the biggest highlights of the event, none other than the 3-time Ironman World Champion Mirinda “Rinny” Carfrae who will also battle and try to get a shot at another big win in the upcoming Triathlon. It will be Rinny’s first race in the Philippines. As Bi3 does not have a separate professionals division, Rinny will share the starting line with other pro athletes, Filipino elites, and age groupers. This gives Bi3 participants a chance to race alongside their idol.

In 2009, she landed in second place in her first ever appearance at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii – considered the most prestigious triathlon event in the world. Since then Rinny has landed in the podium in all her appearances at the World Championships.
In 2010, she dominated the women’s field and took first place, repeating this feat in 2013 and 2014. She owns the Ironman World Championship women’s course record at 8:52:13 and women’s marathon run record with a time of 2:50:38.

She brings this same charitable heart to the Philippines as she will help launch the Batang Tri Grassroots Program, a program which was initiated by CEO and President of F&F International Events Group, Inc. and restaurateur Raymund Magdaluyo that aims to fight poverty in Philippines and Asia through multisport.
The conference concluded with a meet and greet and photo op with Rinny Carfrae as the band serenaded the sweet night at the music hall. The Bataan International Triathlon will once again take place in the historical grounds of Las Casas de Acuzar on November 28-29, 2015.
