Guiao fined P35K for ‘detrimental’ comments, flashing dirty finger

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao was fined a total of P35,000 Tuesday for his actions during the Game 4 of the Rain or Shine-San Miguel series.

The fiery coach was meted out with a P20,000 for issuing statements detrimental to the league, another P10,000 for flashing a dirty finger, and P5,000 more for leaving the bench during an altercation.

Guiao commented after Tuesday’s that the officiating was “getting worse.”

“I recommend consistency with the calls. We know we can beat them, but if you don’t get the breaks from officiating, there’s no way any team can beat them.”

Earlier in the series, Guiao was also slapped with a P20,000 penalty for getting into a scuffle with San Miguel Beer guard Chris Ross.

Rain or Shine deputy Mike Buendia and assistant team manager Jay Legacion were also fined P5,000 for leaving the bench during the fracas, which involved Gabe Norwood and Arwind Santos near the end of the 105-92 San Miguel blowout win.

Santos’ actions didn’t go unnoticed as he was also fined P5,000 for that flagrant foul penalty one.

Jewel Ponferrada was also meted out with a P5,000 fine for his flagrant one earlier in the game, while Paul Lee will have to pay P1,000 for his first technical foul of the conference.
