Whatever happens in the finals, there will be a new queen in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball landscape.

College of St. Benilde dismantled defending champions Arellano University, 25-20, 25-22, 25-23, in the stepladder semifinals Friday at San Juan Arena.

Waiting in the finals is San Sebastian College, the same opponent CSB met in the 2009 finals series.

Lady Blazers head coach Macky Carino got what he wanted but in a way he never expected.

“I didn’t expect it would only take three sets because I know Arellano would put up a fight,” Carino said. “I was confident we will win but not in the way today went.”

Jeanette Panaga led the Lady Blazers with 21 points while Janine Navarro added 11.

CJ Rosario and Jovielyn Prado had 13 points apiece for the defending champions.
