Soltones, Mojica grab NCAA volleyball MVPs

Howard Mojica and Gretchel Soltones have ran rampant for Emilio Aguinaldo College and San Sebastian College, respectively, and on Tuesday the two dynamic scorers got their due.

Both were adjudged as the Most Valuable Player and Best Scores for the men’s and women’s NCAA Season 91 Volleyball tournaments.

Girl power

Soltones’ teammate Alyssa Eroa was named the Best Digger for the Lady Stags, who are fighting for their life in the Finals against College of St. Benilde.

With the green well-represented in the Finals, the Lady Blazers also got their imprint in the individual honors with Jeanette Panaga and Melanie Torres taking the the Best Blocker and Best Receiver citations, respectively.

The duo of Christine Rosario and Rhea Ramirez were given the Best Spiker and Best Setter trophies for their work for the Lady Chiefs.

Shola Alvarez of Jose Rizal University and Nieza Viray of San Beda were named the Best Server and Rookie of the Year , respectively.

Big boys

Mojica’s offensive game was definitely on point as he also took the Best Server and Best Spiker trophies.

Dion Canlas and Angelino Pertierra of Mapua were the Best Digger and Best Blocker, respectively, of the men’s tournament.

San Sebastian’s youngster Walt Amber Gervacio was named Rookie of the Year while Ajian Dy of CSB and John Carlo Desuyo of San Beda took home the Best Receiver and Best Setter trophies, respectively.
