Triumphant return for Ara Galang as La Salle beats FEU
Ara Galang returned and La Salle fended off Far Eastern University, 29-27, 25-23, 25-20, in the two teams’ debut in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday night at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Galang, who is in her final playing year, made up for lost time after hitting 10 points in her first game back since hurting her left knee in the semifinals game against National University last March.
Mika Reyes, who is also graduating after this season, topscored with 13 points while Carol Cerveza also had 10 points for the Lady Spikers, who finished second to defending champion Ateneo last year.
Tony Basas tallied 13 points while Mary Palma added 12 for the Lady Tamaraws, who are aiming to improve on their semifinals finish last season.
