Adamson extends streak in UAAP softball

Defending champion Adamson University topped De La Salle, 4-0, to stretch its winning streak to 65 games in the UAAP Season 78 softball tournament on Monday at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.        

The Lady Falcons, who are seeking their sixth straight title, needed a strong performance in the sixth inning to prevail and stay in second place with a 3-0 record.

National University, meanwhile, edged University of the Philippines, 3-2, to pace the league with a 4-0 mark.

University of the East clobbered Ateneo, 10-1, to move in solo fourth with a 2-2 card in the other game.

The Lady Maroons dropped to 1-2 in fifth spot while the Archers and the Lady Eagles remained at the bottom with 0-3 and 0-4 slates, respectively.

In baseball last Sunday, titleholder Ateneo defeated NU, 8-4, to take the solo lead at 2-0 while Adamson downed University of Santo Tomas, 11-2, to tie its victims and the Bulldogs at 1-1. De La Salle notched its first win of the season, a 7-4 decision over UP. The Maroons fell to 0-2.
