PBA D-League: Tanduay makes it three straight, keeps AMA winless
Tanduay continued its winning ways in the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup, this time edging AMA University, 92-83, for its third straight victory Tuesday at San Juan Arena.
Pari Llagas poured nine of his 18 points in the fourth on a 7-of-10 shooting from the charity stripe and had five rebounds to lead the Rhum Masters in the win.
Article continues after this advertisementVon Pessumal went for 16 markers and five boards, including the dagger three at the 1:06 mark of the fourth to put Tanduay up, 87-80, and the game out of reach, while Reden Celda also had 13 points.
“Sana to-back-to-back-to-back pa. We really needed to win if we want to catch up to the top four,” said coach Lawrence Chongson, as his wards improved to 3-2.
“It gave us a semblance of a chance to make it to the top four. If we would’ve lost, our top four aspirations, baka goodbye na yun.”
Article continues after this advertisementJerramy King led AMA in the defeat with 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Jammer Jamito got 13 as the Titans remained winless after four games.
