Junior Archers extend series

JUST when it looked like the National University Bullpups had the championship all theirs for the taking, De La Salle Zobel came out clicking at the right time.

The Junior Archers spoiled the Bullpups’ bid for a perfect season with a Game 2 upset, 71-60, to extend the title series of the UAAP juniors basketball tournament yesterday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

“We are just out to prove that we are a worthy challengers,” said De La Salle Zobel coach Boris Aldeguer.

The Junior Archers dealt the Bullpups their first loss in 16 games with season MVP Aljun Melecio, Marco Sario and MR Romero powering the squad in the second half.

But the Junior Archers need two more wins to complete a series upset as the Bullpups, who won Game 1, 78-58, own a thrice-to-beat advantage for sweeping the eliminations.
