The Altas Perpsquad reclaimed its throne after dethroning the Arellano Chiefsquad in the 2015 NCAA Cheerleading Competition Tuesday before a sizeable crowd at Mall of Asia Arena.

The Arellano Chiefsquad, who ruled the competition last year after edging the Perpsquad by a solitary point, wound up in second while the EAC Pep Squad returned to the podium with a third place finish.

Only a margin of two points separated the top two finishers with the Perpsquad garnering 195 points. Both squads also got the same six-point deduction.

“I just told the kids, ‘Pull off the routing and everything will follow,’” said Perpsquad coach Ruf Randolph Rosario. “And now that we got our ninth crown, of course, we will continue to strive more and keep our feet in the ground.”

Perpetual Help has now ruled the event six of the last seven times and pushed its championship total to nine.

EAC Pep Squad was a distant third with 145 points, followed by the JRU Cheer Explosives shot itself in the foot with an 18-point deduction.

The San Beda Red Corps made the biggest leap in fifth with 126 points after placing at the bottom last season. LPU Pep Squad was in close sixth with 123.5 points, CSB Pep Squad came in seventh (121), Mapua in eighth (120.5) and Letran’s Lakas Arriba Cheerleading Team (99.5) in last.
