TANDUAY looks to build on its narrow victory the last time out as it disputes the remaining Final Four berth against UP QRS/JAM Liner today in the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Rhum Masters stunned the Maroons, 68-66, last week thanks to a game-winning trey from Val Acuña in the dying seconds, forcing the do-or-die encounter where the winner will be rewarded with a best-of-three semifinal meeting with powerhouse Cafe France.

Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson said he has eased the burden of expectation on the Rhum Masters, who faced a twice-to-beat disadvantage after losing their initial meeting with the Maroons in the elimination round.

“What’s left to be nervous about?” Chongson asked. “One foot was already out of the door so might as well plug all the holes and give it our best shot.”

In fact, UP QRS/JAM Liner coach Bert dela Rosa remains upbeat they can still pull through.

“We lost our composure in the last game that’s why we lost the lead,” said De La Rosa, whose squad wasted a 21-point advantage in the first game. “There was also a breakdown in communication in the last game.”
