Weight not an issue for Pacquiao, Bradley
LAS VEGAS — Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley took different routes toward making the weight limit for their third encounter Saturday night.
Pacquiao took the short cut while Bradley trekked the long road to the 147-pound ceiling of the welterweight division.
Article continues after this advertisementA week into training camp that started in General Santos City and wound up in Hollywood, Pacquiao already made weight and, as always, he didn’t have any difficulty maintaining it.
Truth was, Pacquiao was well under at the apex of his training, going to as low as 140 pounds.

Article continues after this advertisementThis posed some concern and chief trainer Freddie Roach made Pacquiao eat as much as he could up to six times daily to bulk up.
As he appeared at Top Rank Gym here Thursday afternoon, however, and training was called off, Pacquiao appeared on the light side again.
Filipino sportswriters caught up with assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez before he boarded a black Escalade and asked him about Pacquiao’s weight just 24 hours before the official weigh-in Friday afternoon.
Fernandez said Pacquiao didn’t check the scales Thursday. Based on what he saw on his friend’s face, however, Fernandez said he should be between 140 to 142.
