Routs mark Batang PBA opening day

CHRISTIAN Sy fired 16 points and Rhein Miranda added 11 as Batang Alaska routed Batang NLEX, 62-48, at the start of the 11th Under Armour-Batang PBA 12-and-Under tournament at Ynares Sports Arena over the weekend

The Aces roared to a 23-4 lead in the first quarter and 30-15 at the half, but needed to stop a third-quarter rally that allowed the Road Warriors to wrest the advantage, 36-35, entering the last 12 minutes.

Sy came through with eight points in the fourth for Alaska, and NLEX, spent from the effort, had little left after its spirited third quarter comeback.

In the other inaugural day game, Batang Globalport, behind a murderous second half,  made short work of Batang TNT, 72-38, to keep pace with Alaska.

TNT took the half but was completely overwhelmed in the last two quarters.

Succeeding games will be held at JCSGO gym in Cubao and Philippine Science High School gym in Diliman and the finals at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
