Archers, Warriors eye lead; Knights join fray
LA SALLE and University of the East dispute the early lead even as reigning NCAA champion Letran makes its preseason debut today when it battles Lyceum in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup in San Juan.
Still searching for sharp form, Ateneo seeks a breakthrough victory against an Adamson team raring to bounce back from an opening-day loss at 4 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Archers opened with an emphatic 98-88 victory over the Falcons last Saturday in a game where veteran Jeron Teng scattered 30 points.
But La Salle rookie coach Aldin Ayo said his squad is far from its best form as the Archers try to master the pressing defense that worked so well for Letran, which Ayo guided to the NCAA title last year.
“If you look at all my players none of them played for teams that did a lot of trapping,” said Ayo. “Their bodies haven’t adjusted to playing it.”
The Warriors slipped past the Eagles, 93-91, in overtime last Saturday.
Focus will also be on the Knights, who will also be without aces Mark Cruz and Kevin Racal. Cedelf P. Tupas
