Adamson, PAF batters triumph

UNDERSCORING its billing as the country’s top school-based softball program, Adamson bagged two titles even as Air Force ruled the men’s division in the 10th Summer Grand Slam tournament presented by Cebuana Lhuillier at Batangas Sports Complex recently.

Adamson squeaked past University of the Philippines, 7-6, to retain the women’s Open title, while Adamson-C clinched the women’s club crown with an 8-7 win over Adamson-B.

The Airmen drubbed Indonesia, 9-2, in the Open finals of the event sanctioned by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines.

The men’s club division crown went to the defending champion San Antonio Bobcats, who survived Rizal Technological U, 5-4.

“The high level of competition this year was an excellent way to celebrate a decade of this tournament,” said Asaphil president Jean Henri Lhuillier, who noted that 50 teams saw action this year, including squads from Indonesia and Malaysia. Cedelf P. Tupas
