From a 32-point blowout last time out, Ateneo managed to put up a fight in its second meeting against La Salle on Friday.
But that still wasn’t enough to overcome the Green Archers, succumbing to a 92-77 defeat in the 2016 Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup semifinals.
“At least di masyadong tambak, pero it’s good that we improved,” said Blue Eagle forward Thirdy Ravena. “But we still have a lot of things to improve on.”
Under Tab Baldwin, the Blue Eagles are showing signs of improvement with still a few months to go before UAAP Season 79.
However, Ravena knows that La Salle will still be the benchmark for teams this season.
“We just got to keep up with them, bridge the gap between us, and hopefully next game, mas maganda yung ipapakita namin. They are really really a good team. Stop one and there’s still others you know na magdo-dominate. You know that someone will step up,” he said.
It has been a rough off-season for the Blue Eagles when it comes to the rivarly against the Green Archers, but Ravena and the young team could only learn their lesson.
“Di ako masyadong natutuwa kapag natatalo because I’m really a competitive person, but sabi nga nila, there’s no such thing as failure, only lessons for us,” Ravena said.
