Ambrose pulls off stunner, claims WWE title

The Lunatic Fringe reached for the stars and came out a champion.

Dean Ambrose took home the Money in the Bank briefcase and stunned the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, cashing in and snaring the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Monday (Manila time).

Seth Rollins reclaimed the company’s biggest prize with two Pedigrees on defending champion Roman Reigns for the title in the main event. But that was when Ambrose’s music hit and blindsided his former Shield brethren, invoking his right for a championship match and downed Rollins with Dirty Deeds to end the night.

It was an unfortunate ending for Rollins, who came back from a freak knee injury in November to reinstate his status as WWE’s top dog.

Ambrose earlier in the night outlasted five other men to take home the briefcase, pushing Kevin Owens off the ladder to win the ladder match. Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and Alberto del Rio also vied for the prize, which ensured the winner a right for a title match whenever he deems.

In the night’s other matches, AJ Styles pinned John Cena in what was billed as a dream match after his The Club cohorts Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows interfered and hit the 15-time world champ with Magic Killer.

Rusev also retained the United States Championship after submitting challenger Titus O’Neil with The Accolade.

The New Day also kept the WWE Tag Team Championships in their fatal-4-way match after Kofi Kingston scored the three-count on Aiden English. He and Big E hit English with Midnight Hour for the win, as they reigned supreme over The Vaudevillains, The Club, and the team of Enzo and Big Cass.

Charlotte and Dana Brooke triumphed over Natalya and Becky Lynch after the WWE Women’s Champion hit Lynch with Natural Selection. After the match, Natalya turned on her partner and pounded Lynch with punches.

Baron Corbin also knocked Dolph Ziggler out with End of Days, while Apollo Crews scored a roll-up win over Sheamus.

The Lucha Dragons bested The Dudley Boyz and Golden Truth defeated Breezango in the kickoff show.
