GENERIKA jumpstarted its campaign with a hard-earned 28-26, 26-28, 25-20, 25-19 win over Standard Insurance-Navy Tuesday night in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference volleyball at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Shaya Adorador chipped in 14 points, Geneveve Casugod 13, while Wensh Tiu and Ria Meneses contributed 11 and 10, respectively.
Veteran Pau Soriano paced the Corvettes with 10 points while Lilet Mabbayad had nine.

Honey Royse Tubino scored 15 points for the Lady Troopers who had the luxury of fielding in their second unit in most of the third set.
Generika coach Francis Vicente credited his players’ strong resolve in the face of Standard Insurance-Navy’s persistence.
Cortez typified it from both ends, making 11 points on attack and five on blocks.
“Our height advantage surfaced in the fourth set,” said Vicente. “Yes, I have a team of college stars. They have their respective mentors and different philosophy, so the challenge is how to make them work as one.”
