Report: Paras UCLA withdrawal due to ‘SAT issue’

Kobe Paras’ saga with University of California, Los Angeles ended even before he got to don the blue-and-gold of the Bruins.

Academic issues axed Paras’ time at the Los Angeles campus and this was despite the Filipino being an honor student at Cathedral High.

John Montgomery, the school principal of Los Angeles Cathedral High told Los Angeles Times in a report that Paras had met all NCAA academic requirement but “there was an SAT scoring issue.”

Paras may not be able to play for the prestigious UCLA, but can still suit for another Division I school, Cathedral High head coach William Middlebrooks said in the same report.

“They made their decision,” said Middlebrooks of UCLA. “He’ll be wearing another uniform.”

Paras, son of PBA legend Benjie, had been a UCLA-commit for more than two years.
