De La Salle got off on the right foot with a 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21 win over College of St. Benilde at the start of Spikers’ Turf Season 2 Collegiate Conference Saturday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Raymark Woo dueled with Johnvic de Guzman and scored 24 points to lead the Green Spikers.
De Guzman fired a game-high 27 points for the Blazers but couldn’t get enough support from his teammates.
Mike Frey and Arjay Onia added 16 and 13 points, respectively for La Salle.
Meanwhile, University of the Philippines had four players in double figures in a 23-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-18 victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College.
Alfred Valbuena led the way for the Fighting Maroons with 16 points while Wendel Miguel had 14 points and John Mark Millete tallied 12. Gian Kyle San Pascual chipped in 10.
The Generals relied heavily on Israel Encisa and Kerth Melliza, who combined for 41 points.
Encisa scored 23 of his 24 points off hits.
