AdU, Lyceum dispute last V-League semis berth

ADAMSON AND Lyceum dispute the remaining semifinal berth today in the Shakey’s V-League Season 8 First Conference at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Buoyed by a three-set victory over Ateneo last Sunday, the Lady Falcons are oozing with confidence heading into the 4 p.m. duel with the Lady Pirates.

Early semifinalist St. La Salle hopes to end its quarterfinal stint with a flourish as it battles a Far Eastern U side still reeling from a five-set defeat to National U last Sunday.

The Lady Stingers are already assured of the top seeding from Group II, regardless of the result of the 2 p.m. showdown with the Lady Tamaraws.

In a match billed as a preview of the finals, Adamson coasted to a 28-26, 25-10, 25-19 victory over erstwhile undefeated Ateneo.

The Lady Falcons, already with two V-League titles, boast a formidable crew led by former Most Valuable Player Nene Bautista and Michelle Laborte.

The duo returned to action last Sunday after missing two games and combined for 25 points, aside from helping the Lady Falcons neutralize Ateneo’s vaunted power game.

Laborte, one of the league’s top blockers, will have her hands full against Lyceum’s top attackers Mary Jean Balse and Dahlia Cruz.
