There’s no sibling rivalry here.

EJ Laure does not mind being compared to her younger sister Eya who has now joined her in the Golden Tigresses team for the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference.

She’s also in awe of her sister whom she said is better than her.

“Sa akin naman, OK lang naman ma-compare sa kanya,” said EJ Wednesday night at Philsports Arena. “At tyaka, alam ko namang mas magaling siya sa akin.”

Both EJ and Eya were standouts at University of Santo Tomas’ high school programs as the sisters won one MVP award apiece.

Eya has a Rookie of the Year plum in high school, while big sister EJ has one in the seniors’ division.

EJ was all smiles when she reunited with her sister, whom she hasn’t played with for around three years, in the preseason tournament.

“Siyempre nakakatuwa kasi kaya niyang makipagsabayan samin, and kahit nung high school pa lang siya iba na yung level niya,” said EJ, who was also disappointed that their reunion would be shortlived.

Eya will be pulled out as a guest player in the V-League once the UAAP season begins.

Girls’ volleyball is held in the first semester of the school year while the seniors’ tournament is in the second; and with the K-12 getting its first year, Eya is still is still considered as a juniors’ athlete.

“Sobrang lungkot nga lang ako na may K-12 so parang di pa siya mako cover ng college,” said EJ.
