V-League: Lady Stags nail quarterfinals slot

San Sebastian booked a quarterfinals spot after a 25-22, 13-25, 25-18, 16-25, 15-7 win over Technological Institute of the Philippines in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference Monday at Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Grethcel Soltones powered the Lady Stags with 28 points, 26 of which coming off kills.

Katherine Villegas and Denice Lim both had 11 in the win, while Joyce Sta. Rita got 10 points, including the spike which put San Sebastian at match point.

Failing to close the game out in the fourth set, Soltones took charge in the decider and helped the Lady Stags string eight straight points to grab a 13-4 lead.

A couple of San Sebastian errors kept the Lady Engineers in the game, but a service error from Mylene Paat closed the deal for the Lady Stags.

TIP slid to 2-2 with its fate to make the playoffs out of its hands.

Paat topped the Lady Engineers with 17 points while Alyssa Layug got 13.
