It truly was a happy birthday for San Sebastian’s Alvin Capobres.

Celebrating his 22nd birthday on Friday, the 6-foot-1 forward paced the Golden Stags to snap their nine-game losing skid and stun Perpetual, 71-55.

Nag-step up sila para sa amin at lahat sila pumutok,” he said.

Capobres went for 13 points and hauled down five rebounds in the win, but more importantly, helped San Sebastian’s spotless gameplan to upset the Altas.

Against Perpetual big man Bright Akhuetie, the Golden Stags crashed the boards to outrebound the Altas, 51-41, and hold them off up until the end.

Capobres credited coach Egay Macaraya for that huge adjustment as San Sebastian finally ended its season-long woes.

He is also hopeful that this victory will turn things around for the Golden Stags as they eye to improve their 2-9 slate.

Basta as a team, strong lang ang laruin namin,” said Capobres.
