PBA: TNT shoots down Phoenix for sixth straight win
ANTIPOLO—TNT KaTropa remained immaculate in the PBA Governors’ Cup, taking down upset-seeking Phoenix, 124-117, for its sixth straight win Friday here at Ynares Center.
The Texters remained undefeated while the Fuel Masters saw their two-game win streak end to slip to 2-4.
Article continues after this advertisementTNT posted a league-season-high 19 triples, which translates to sixth all-time in PBA history.
“We shot the ball well especially Michael [Madanly], and we made shots break the game open,” said Katropa head coach Jong Uichico. “And we also played good defense.”
TNT posted a 54 percent shooting clip while also holding down Phoenix to just 46 percent.
Article continues after this advertisementKatropa opened the floodgates in the third quarter to douse the Fuel Masters with a 22-6 run.
Madanly waxed hot from the floor putting up a team-high 30 points, including 24 from behind the arc, while Mychal Ammons added 22 points and 18 rebounds.
Eugene Phelps led Phoenix with a game-high 49 points and 18 boards.
