ANTIPOLO—–Globalport is once again on positive tides turning back powerhouse San Miguel, 98-92, for its second straight win in the PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at Ynares Sports Center here in Antipolo.

Terrence Romeo virtually sealed the win for the Batang Pier with a floater with 28.7 seconds left in the game to give Globalport the 96-90 lead.

Defending MVP June Mar Fajardo would cut the lead to four, 96-92, with 25.3 seconds left but the two-possession lead was too much for San Miguel to overcome.

“After winning the first we [coaches] saw that they want to win every game,” said Globalport head coach Johnedel Cardel whose team improve to 2-4 record. “This is a big fish and nanalo kami so malaking bagay to para sa amin.”

Globalport dropped its first four games in the conference, an inverse of what the Beermen did after they won two straight to open the Governors’ Cup.

San Miguel, however, failed to replicate the consistency as the Beermen split their next four games and fell down the ladder to 4-2.

Stanley Pringle led Globalport with 25 points while import Michael Glover had a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double.

Romeo also finished in double figures with 18 points but a tough time shooting the ball on a 7-for-24 clip.

AZ Reid had a game-high 41 points for the Beermen to add to his 15 rebounds while the flu-stricken Fajardo had a 21-point, 14-rebound double-double.
