The tables are already safe for good.
One of the most decorated tag teams in the business, The Dudley Boyz announced their retirement on Raw in Brooklyn Monday (Tuesday Manila time).
Bubba Ray and D-Von took centerstage at Barclays Center to address the crowd and have a fitting ending to their career that spanned for two decades.
“It’s been a hell of a year. Some ups, some downs, some wins, some losses. Sometimes, you guys have loved us. Sometimes, you guys have hated us. But at the end of the day, we knew in our hearts, every single one of you always respected us cause we busted our ass for you for 20 years,” said Bubba Ray.
The team, which has been one of the winningest duos in professional wrestling, returned to the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) last year.
They were unsuccessful in beating The New Day in their search of their 10th reign as WWE Tag Team
Champions.
“In this business and in this industry, you don’t get to go out in your own terms. And even though things didn’t go perfectly for us this year, being able to say goodbye to you our hardcore brothers and sisters in our backyard, this is our own terms,” Bubba Ray said.
They last competed at the SummerSlam Kickoff Show, losing to the team of Neville and Sami Zayn.
The Dudleys closed a storied career which saw them win titles in WWE, Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), and Total
Nonstop Action (TNA).
The Shining Stars, though, interrupted their promo before Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson attacked the Dudleys, before sending D-Von crashing through a table with the Magic Killer.
