WATCH: Batang Gilas’ Mamuyac blocks Steph Curry’s potential game winner
Only a handful of people can say they blocked two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry’s shot. Now, 17-year-old Filipino player Gian Mamuyac can say he belongs to that short list.
The Golden State Warriors superstar attempted his patented step-back three-point shot during the dying seconds of a scrimmage in Taiwan on Tuesday. He was in the country as part of his five-day tour of Asia for Under Armour.
Article continues after this advertisementManning him up at the top of the perimeter was the Philippines’ Under-17 National team member, who made the most of his once-in-a-lifetime chance to go toe to toe against arguably the best shooter in the planet today.
As seen in a video initially posted by ABS-CBN’s TJ Manotoc and SLAM Philippines on Twitter, Curry razzled and dazzled with his fancy handles, but the Gilas youngster held his ground and stuffed Curry’s potential game winner.
The three-time All Star, meanwhile, was all smiles after the block and even gave his defender a high five.

A Taiwanese celebrity reportedly asked for a do-over of the final play, which ended predictably as Curry splashed a three-pointer over the outstretched hands of Mamuyac.

Aside from the global recognition, Mamuyac was named MVP of the game and reportedly earned himself an invite to Curry’s SC30 Basketball Camp in the USA. Khristian Ibarrola
