University of the Philippines made a case for the bronze medal of the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference after upending Far Eastern University, 25-18, 25-21, 32-34, 25-21, Wednesday at Philsports Arena.

In the case of a National University victory later in the second match of the gold medal series, the Lady Maroons will take the third place but an Ateneo win would likewise extend the UP-FEU series to a third game.

FEU’s victory in the first match required five sets while UP’s win in the second took four.

Isa Molde’s through-the-block kill between two Lady Tamaraws ended the second match of the battle for third.

Team captain Kathy Bersola was relieved they snapped out of their third set funk to establish the team’s rhythm come the fourth period.

“Yun na sinasabi before ni coach [Jerry Yee] before pa na pag nawala kami sa focus, ganun, mahahabol kami, kukuha at kukuha sila ng puntos,” said Bersola who had three points in the match.

Molde and co-captain Nicole Tiamzon had 24 points apiece to lead the Lady Maroons while Diana Carlos added a dozen.
