Nabor returns NU’s faith with V-League Finals MVP plum

It’s been an offseason of redemption for one Lady Bulldog.
When Jasmine Nabor entered the seniors program of National University, the setter was initially converted as an opposite attacker with senior Ivy Perez dictating the playmaking duties.
With Perez gone, Nabor has returned to her old spot and the 5-foot-7 lass out of Tarlac delivered.

Nabor steered the Lady Bulldogs over Ateneo, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 21-25, 15-4, to clinch the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference title, taking home the Finals MVP trophy in the process.
“Sobrang nakakatuwa kasi napatunayan ko sa coaches ko at sa maraming tao na hindi sila nagkamali na ginawa akong setter,” said Nabor who had 43 excellent sets in the championship game Wednesday at Philsports Arena.
“Dati kasi spiker ako then nawalan kami ng setter, pinakita ko sa coaches na hindi sila nagkamali.”

Nabor got the better of her “idol” Jia Morado, who was named the Best Setter of the tournament, and in her mind it was some sort of sweet revenge for failing to win the individual award.
She added she wasn’t expecting to take the award, but on the back of her mind she knew she had a chance of getting it.
“Nalungkot ako, hindi ko naman po inexpect, nag assume ako pero hindi sobrang assume,” said Nabor. “Siyempre hindi ako nag focus dun, kailangan ko team award [championship].”

“Focus ko dapat champion at masaya lahat, and alam ko sa sarili ko deserve ni Jia pagiging Best Setter.”
