Lady Pirates out to stun anew in t’kwondo meet

LYCEUM looks to sustain its surprise run in women’s taekwondo as the MVPSF-Meralco Philippine Taekwondo League resumes today at SM Muntinlupa.

The Lady Pirates go for a third straight win and a slot in the next round versus Letran at 1 p.m. and San Sebastian at 5:30 p.m. in Group A action.

Last month, the Lady Pirates slipped past University of the Philippines in a 12-11 upset at SM Southmall in Las Piñas.

Letran and San Sebastian tangle at 5:30 p.m. in the other women’s match.

Junior men’s action kicks off today with Letran and San Beda College-Alabang tangling in Group B at 12 noon, SBCA battling San Sebastian at 2 p.m. and Letran dueling SSC at 4:30 p.m.

Defending men’s champion University of the East drubbed Lyceum, 39-28, while La Salle blasted Arellano, 35-21, for a 2-0 start in Group A last August.

San Beda dumped Rizal Technological U, 53-26, in Group B men’s play.

The Red Lionesses pulled off twin wins in women’s Group C after disposing of Arellano, 25-20, and St. Benilde, 29-18, while Ateneo also posted wins over La Salle, 34-23, and RTU, 42-14.

In men’s juniors, National University bested Diliman Prep School, 72-15, and La Salle Zobel, 42-14. Jasmine W. Payo
