Batiller admits Red Warriors losing confidence amid 0-4 skid

As University of the East crashed to its fourth straight loss, Batiller believes the Red Warriors should start playing like there’s no tomorrow.

The Red Warriors’ star guard said they can’t afford drop another game after they fell to University of the Philippines and into a 0-4 hole Wednesday in the UAAP Season 79 men’s basketball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.

“Kailangan namin lumaban talaga simula next game,” said Batiller after their 75-71 loss. “Hindi na kami pwede matalo.”

Both UE and UP were gunning for their first win this season but it was Fighting Maroons who made it 1-3 while the Red Warriors were left to tend their wounds.

Batiller had a chance to save UE and follow-up his emphatic block on Jerson Prado but his triple bounced off the rim as UP held on to its 71-69 lead with 30 seconds left in the game.

He admits that the Red Warriors are losing confidence as the skid grows longer.

“Parang wala kaming kumpiyansa sa sarili namin,” said Batiller who had 14 points and eight rebounds. “Wala kaming kumpiyansa sa loob ng court.”
