Talk about a change of scenery.

In a span of 24 hours, McJour Luib found himself from being a Knight in Colegio de San Juan de Letran to being an assistant coach under former mentor Aldin Ayo in De La Salle University.

And the switch of roles was not only between schools, but between the two biggest collegiate leagues in the country, the UAAP and NCAA.

Luib admits he’s still having a hard time establishing himself as an assistant coach for the Green Archers.

“Mahirap kasi tawag nila sa akin ‘idol,’” said Luib following La Salle’s 91-75 over Adamson University on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena. “Ganun lang din tawag ko sa players, siguro in time makukuha ko rin yun.”

Luib was instrumental in Letran’s NCAA championship run in 2015 and it was in Game 3 when he outwitted archrivals San Beda and it was under the leadership of Ayo.

Luib said he became an official member of La Salle on Friday, a day after playing his last game in the NCAA.

“Sa una awkward pero tinanggap ko na tapos na ako sa NCAA,” said Luib. “Yung trabaho lang na pinapagawa sakin ni coach yun ang ginagawa ko.”

“Ako nakatoka sa scouting and sa plays ng kalaban namin.”
