PSL suspends, fines Soriano and Mabbayad for playing in V-League
THE PHILIPPINE Superliga said spikers Pau Soriano and Lilet Mabbayad will each be slapped with a P50,000 fine and one-year suspension for playing for Bureau of Customs in the Shakey’s V-League.
PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said Soriano and Mabbayad are bound by league rules against playing in another league as they are playing for Philippine Navy-Standard in PSL.
Article continues after this advertisementIt was the newest episode in the “cold war” between the PSL and SVL which had been at odds before due to scheduling of game involving the same set of players.
Suzara said Navy team officials assured him that the two players won’t see action in the SVL but defied the orders. They will be declared AWOL (absent without leave), according to the PSL.
Soriano and Mabbayad saw action in the first game of Customs which was led by SVL’s marquee player Alyssa Valdez.
